Ellyn Cavanagh (afghan) > Comfort and protection. These little ones were left as 'abandoned' for 6 days until adopted. Afghan is a society that cherishes children.We need to extend the same comfort and protection to Afghan's injured, disabled and aging citizens.

Ellyn Cavanagh (afghan) > Education. One of the fortunate children who is cared for in an orphanage for war victims.She is nurtured,clean and now learning how to read and write.Education in a safe environment is vital for all  children of the globe.

Ellyn Cavanagh (afghan) > Surveillance.Children work to help multi-generational family systems. The majority of the population lives on less than $1.00 US per day.Population statistics will help determine how many children are in the work force rather than in the classroom.

Ellyn Cavanagh (afghan) > Prevention. These children share a garbage dump with two goats - rummaging through for items of interest. This was taken in one of the "better neighborhoods". Opportunities for reliable food sources, education and play areas will prevent the foraging, spread of disease and risk of injury.

Ellyn Cavanagh (afghan) > Health Care. The mother of this child has 12 other children to care for in an economy where she is unemployed and unemployable because of illiteracy.The mother is critical for the family. She needs comprehensive women's health services unavailable under the current health system. Her life expectancy is 46 years, she is 39 years old.

Ellyn Cavanagh (afghan) > After a successful shoe-donation drive, Afghan children had an opportunity to "picK' a pair of sturdy shoes. Ali is 12 and has cerebral palsy. He cannot speak, but is great on the computer, understands English perfectly and is a good dancer>
Ellyn Cavanagh (afghan) > This young man heads his household of mother and 4 younger siblings.
