Dr. Cavanagh returns to Afghanistan February 8, 2004. She will add new pictures of the children and families of Kabul.
The coloring kids. They were waiting for me when I got to work one day. These children spend days at the hospital if their mother is hospitalized. Their jobs are numerous: run for water; shop at the bazaar; take care of younger sibs; make food. One little fellow (10 years old) spent his day shining shoes in the bazaar to make money. His little hands were just black from polish but he was the only support (father was assassinated). (He is one of the "Ookie Dokie Boys" )
